New Tattoo Aftercare Related Questions & Information
It takes 2-3 weeks for a tattoo to heal completely. During that timeframe, your healing tattoo will go through several phases. Here’s a breakdown of what to expect:
Day 1: Bright and fresh
Days 2-6: Oozy
Days 7-14: Scabby and flaking/ itchy
Days 15-30: Fresh and clean but dulled art
We recommend keeping a healing tattoo clean with warm soap and water, pat to dry. If you want to moisturize, we recommend using ointment the first two days, then switching to lotion on the third day. Remember, the healing process varies depending on a person’s immune system, ability to fight infections, and aftercare treatment, especially cleaning and sun protection.
If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to your artist!
We recommend waiting at least 2 weeks before fully submerging your tattoo in water. Showers are fine.
We recommend waiting at least 2 weeks before exposing your tattoo to harsh sun. And even after that, sun exposure will fade your tattoo prematurely. Always cover your tattoo with sunscreen before going in the sun to protect it!
